In Hong Kong, we operate a vertically-integrated electricity supply business providing a highly-reliable supply of electricity to 80% of the city’s population. Outside Hong Kong, we invest in the energy sector in Mainland China, India, Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Australia. Our business includes power generation, transmission and distribution, and electricity and gas retail activities. Our goal is to meet Asia-Pacific's energy challenge in a sustainable manner from one generation to the next.
Reporting to the Principal Manager – C&SC (Fuels), this position will be responsible for:
- Category Expertise. Act as subject matter expert to provide domain knowledge and supply market insights with primary focus on Natural Gas / LNG categories ; and secondary focus on Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel Oil, Landfill Gas and emerging next generation fuels (e.g. hydrogen).
- Category Management. Provide in-depth category and supply market insights, consolidate business demands and requirements, formulate short/medium/long-term category strategies, execute Business Delivery for respective Category Business Plans, and collaborate with business users and relevant stakeholders to pursue and manage the implementation of category strategies.
- Sourcing Management. Engage with business users to provide category insights in high-risk, high-value sourcing, plan/develop/implement sourcing and contracting strategies, lead commercial and contract negotiations and establish new supply agreements.
- Supplier Management. Lead engagement with key suppliers, including the development of long-term partnerships, relationships and business opportunities. Lead the implementation of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework with strategic suppliers to drive performance on safety, quality, delivery and cost management. Manage supply chain risks and explore new business development opportunities.
- Delivery Management. Plan and execute scheduling and receipt of gas deliveries, management of inventory to target levels and identify/mitigate/resolve commercial or contractual issues whilst ensuring gas/LNG supply security, reliability, and commercial competitiveness in accordance with contractual commitments.
- Risk Management. Ensure effective supply chain risk management in place for gas/LNG categories. Assess and monitor category risks, and proactively develop risk mitigation measures for identified risks to an acceptable residual risk profile. Manage business and operational risk exposure together with business users, including supply availability and reliability, sanctions and compliance, sustainability, etc.
- Innovation & Transformation. Strive for excellence in maximizing business value outcomes with innovations and adoption of procurement best practices. Be agile and strategically plan to capture potential business enhancement opportunities to deliver value to the company. Provide market intelligence, insights and benchmarks to business users to keep abreast of latest market trends and developments. Lead implementation of C&SCM function’s transformational initiatives within the category team.
Requirements:
- University degree in Business, Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM), Commerce, Engineering or other relevant discipline with Post-Graduate degree preferred
- Membership and/or qualification from a procurement professional body (e.g. CIPS, ISM or equivalent) would be an advantage
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain and/or commercial roles with relevant category expertise and increasing level of responsibility.
- Experience in LNG /gas business development, LNG/GSA contract negotiation and execution preferred.
- Experienced PSCM and/or gas & oil professional with demonstrable knowledge and experience in industry best practice
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal or external stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated “hands-on” experience of leadership, negotiation and influencing skills
- Self-motivated, result-oriented, agile, and innovative thinking
- Strong cross-cultural awareness, adaptability, and agility
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and achieve high quality work
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Putonghua) required.
