We are now looking for a capable Principal Manager – HSSE. Reporting to the Head of Renewable Energy and leading a small team of HSSE professionals, the individual will work in different locations in China, to ensure the China renewable projects are constructed, operated and maintained meeting the CLP rules, procedures and standards and China regulations and laws in Occupational Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE). The individual will provide expert advice to project managers and O&M managers such that they can execute their work in line with CLP HSSE requirements, deliver HSSE improvement programs as appropriate and administer the RE HSSE system. The candidate filling this vacancy shall carry out the multiple roles as follows:
· Work closely with project managers and provide guidance to project team for safe delivery of RE projects in China. Organize HSSE workshop for critical construction works, identify potential HSSE risks and develop specific and workable instructions or guidance.
· Work closely with O&M managers and provide guidance to safety managers and frontline staff for safe operation and maintenance of RE assets in China. Organize routine site inspections on RE assets across China, identify HSSE issues or potential risks and supervise the rectification and correction.
· Work closely with China BU to enable its fulfilment of its legal responsibility in China as renewable asset owner.
· Interact with the Project Management team, Portfolio O&M team and RE management team and participate in regular meetings. Gather information and prepare reports and presentations of information as needed on the project.
· Interact with Group HSE team and Group Security team and participate in regular meetings, providing regular performance statistics and updates as needed.
· Transparent, consistent and accurate reporting of HSSE statistics for all RE construction and operational activities.
· Assurance activities to ensure all RE O&M activities are carried out in compliance with company standards and procedures on operational safety and process safety and that those procedures are in line with local regulatory requirements and internal good practice.
· Lead investigations on serious incidents, capture lessons learned and plan and deliver improvement programs in HSSE for construction and O&M activities.
· RE team preparedness to manage emergencies and crisis through planning and drill.
Requirements
· A recognised university degree in engineering, safety or related discipline. Professional engineering / construction management or equivalent qualification is preferable.
· With at least 15+ years of project safety or operational safety management experience in power construction projects across multiple technologies. Experience in RE projects is preferable.
· With at least 10+ years of leadership experience in a senior role.
· Experience with HSSE management including site execution, operational safety management and reporting
· Construction experience with an ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions in a construction environment.
· Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin and simplified Chinese) required. Ability in both spoken and written English.
· Strong analytical skills and solutions focused approach
· Ability to multi-task in a high paced project environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
