Description & Requirements

We are looking for high caliber professional to join Operational Planning Branch of System Operation Department. He/She is also expected to have job rotation to System Control Branch from time to time and to work on shift. Reporting to a Senior Lead Engineer, the appointee will assist in the following duties:

Perform short and medium-term transmission and distribution outage planning activities to ensure the security standards of the system are met
Coordinate generation and interconnection outage activities to optimise the utilisation of the Company’s generation resources
Perform short and medium-term demand forecast, variable renewable energy forecast and determine commitment of generation units economically while satisfying the system and interconnection requirements
Analyse the causes of faults or disturbances on generation and transmission systems and recommend remedial measures to meet the system security
Monitor generation, transmission and interconnected systems performance, capture operational and fault statistics, analyse operational data, consolidate into useful operational information, and disseminate to relevant departments
Formulate operational plans to improve the operational efficiency and minimise potential supply interruption to customers

Requirements:

A recognized University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
MHKIE or equivalent is preferable
At least 5 years' relevant experience in electricity supply industry
Being Authorised Person (AP) / Senior Authorised Person (SAP) would be an advantage
Familiar with CLP Power Safety Rules, and HSEQ Management Systems, engineering standards and codes of practice is preferable
Customer-oriented, achievement driven, self-motivated, analytical and able to work under pressure
Knowledge in computer programming, and/or data analytics tools
Ability to communicate effectively with different levels, both internally and externally
Mindful and with good safety awareness

Candidate who has shown good potential for further development but with less qualification and/or experience will be considered for a position at lower grade.
