Purpose of the job:
· To lead initiatives related to managing the Innovation Office which provides alignment and oversight of significant innovation and technology activities and deployment across CLP Power (CLPP) at a pace and focus that is strategically optimal for the company.
- To strategise and execute initiatives that drive innovation activities to scale across CLP Power and cultivate of culture of innovation
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the function of Innovation Office which provides alignment and oversight of significant innovation and technology activities and deployment across CLP Power at a pace and focus that is strategically optimal for the company.
- Coordinate regular innovation meetings incl. Steering Committee meetings, which is composed of related CLP Power Executive Committee members and department heads. Also drive various forums to maturity to ensure Innovation Office’s role of governing to criteria.
- Assist in establishing overall corporate strategy and implementation of digital and other innovative technology to support CLP’s business strategy, opportunities and needs.
- Monitor new trends in energy and other industries, business models, especially for ones not covered by BGs. Special focus on medium to longer-term innovation opportunities which is complementary and cascade to BG Innovation teams for shorter-term deployment
- Contribute in cross-BG strategic studies to evaluate innovations and new technology applications, on how these could, commercially and technically, benefit internal operations or act as new service offerings, with well-substantiated recommendations to meet expectation of stakeholders
- Coordinate engagement opportunities with technology & start-up communities, universities & peer utilities on technology deployments and deliver innovation collaborations to ensure early detection and action of potentially significant trends and place CLPP at the forefront of a modern utility
- Drive the deployment of strategic innovation projects and technologies initiatives, from study, trial/ pilot to full scale implementation, across the BGs of the whole company
- Review and implement CLPP's innovation strategy whilst liaising closely with Group functions such as research and ecosystems.
- Create management reports, debriefs and analyses on relevant topics where applicable
Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering
- MBA or advanced degree in related field of management science is a plus
- With 8 years or more of suitable exposure and experience in engineering, technology or innovation project management and business analysis
- Hands-on Experience in driving digital initiatives, preferably those across different business units in a large organisation
- In-depth knowledge of company's goals and plans, ability to provide alignment and oversight of significant innovation and technology activities and deployment across CLP Power at a pace and focus that is strategically optimal for the company.
- Good project management skill, preferably experience in leading cross-BG innovation or technology projects, ability to provide insights, monitor and drive various strategic innovation projects and identifying synergy and opportunities for cross-BG collaboration.
- Strong organisational skill to facilitate the governance of the Innovation Steering Committee, ability to enable effective engagements and communication for acceleration of innovation initiatives via innovation meetings and specific workshops
- Strategic thinking, ability to develop the overall corporate strategy and implementation of digital and other innovative technology to support CLP's business strategy, opportunities and needs
- Good analytical and commercial skills, with ability to build high level economic models to support the business case of innovation and digital projects.
- Good presentation and communication skills, in particular the ability to reduce complex technical issue and concepts into simple and concise initiatives for further propagation & pursuing.
- Strong leadership and excellent organization, team collaboration and interpersonal skills, with ability to motivate with a group of multi-disciplined staff from other business units in the Company to delivery business objectives.
- Good engagement skills in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders including senior executive, middle management and team lead levels & professional, business partners, scholars, technology & industry players, start-up communities.
- Be fluent in English & Cantonese and Mandarin is an advantage
