Description & Requirements

Reporting to the Lead Engineer – Process Control, the appointee will be responsible for the software & data maintenance, as well as implementation of control computer systems in the System Control Centre and the Backup System Control Centre to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the power systems. Major duties include:

Perform daily operations of the control computer systems to ensure reliable and high availability services are provided for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the power network

Prepare and specify telemetry requirements for the control computer systems used for monitoring and controlling the power systems. Liaise with relevant parties for the timely provision of these telemetry facilities.

Responsible for Windows & Linux Server environment and network infrastructure setup, management and monitoring, which includes but not limited to Active Directory service, database, virtual server, backup, etc.

Follow proper software engineering practices for the maintenance of the control computer systems, including implementation of bug fixes, enhancements of existing software, and development of new applications

Implement Information Security control measures on the control computer systems, which includes but not limited to Firewall, Anti-virus, vulnerability scanning and security software setup and maintenance

Plan and co-ordinate with relevant parties in the installation and commissioning of IT system and telemetry facilities

Prepare and develop relevant support documents and change records, e.g. procedure, guidelines, backup and system change records, etc.

Provide project management support to control computer systems projects

Provide support to the continual improvements of processes in the Integrated Management System

Perform any other duties including standby duties as assigned by supervisor when required

Requirements:

A recognized university degree in Information Technology / Electrical Engineering or equivalent

At least 3 years' relevant working experience

Solid experience on Windows & Linux servers, Oracle database, VMware ESXi, network switch implementation, setup or maintenance

Proficient in software engineering, design, implementation, testing and maintenance

Proficient in computer programming skills such as PowerShell, Linux shell script, C#, Visual Basic

Knowledge of power system operations and protection schemes preferred

Good communication, presentation and problem solving skills

Mindful and possess good safety awareness

Candidates with less qualification and/or experience but demonstrate good potential for further development will be considered for a position at lower grade.
