Reporting to the Principal Manager – Commercial and Project Services and as a member of Commercial and Supply Chain Management’s leadership team, the position will be responsible for leading the Commercial strategy development covering contracting and procurement, across CLP businesses. The role will be accountable for providing:
Advise and orchestrate the development of project commercial strategy (contracting and procurement strategies) by coordinating cross-category/function and project procurement teams, including project directors and senior management.
Conduct market research and analyses and providing and presenting market intelligence, insights, benchmarks including researching, authoring papers, reports that help the wider business with decision making
Active participation and involvement in the undertaking of commercial initiatives, including project reviews of commercial and supply chain related matters
Lead commercial and project procurement colleagues in developing a CAPEX projects community of practice (commercial management, contract management and contract administration, including systems, methods, and processes.)
Provide input and recommendations to form, develop, provide, and execute commercial advice, direction, strategy, and practice, provide support across the business on commercial advice and leadership
Contribute to deliver positive commercial outcomes in procurement and CAPEX project delivery in line with the function and CLP’s overall strategy.
Provide quality assurance of commercial advice for FID / IC recommendations focusing on procurement and supply chain risks
Perform and support the Commercial team on any adhoc tasks
Work independently and proactively to provide mentoring and guidance to the team
Requirements:
- University degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or related discipline preferred; other disciplines like in Finance and Economics, Engineering, Facilities Management or other relevant discipline may be considered, subject to work experience in commercial/procurement roles.
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Procurement and Supply Chain roles with increasing level of seniority and team management responsibility.
- Membership and/or qualification from a relevant professional body is preferred.
- First-hand experience leading sourcing and contract negotiations, commercial and contract negotiations / reviews on scalable and complex and/or multi-year deals and effective commercial contract forms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of procurement leading practices applied across diverse categories and/or organisations.
- Ideally with energy industry experience and/or large infrastructure design experience
- Agile, customer-centric and innovative thinking.
- Change champion with strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong cross-cultural awareness, adaptability and agility.
- Fluency in English required, fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin a distinct advantage.
