CLP has embarked on a journey to becoming a “Utility of the Future” which is customer-centric, agile and digitally-enabled. The company is launching strategic transformation initiatives across the business in which next generation technologies will play a pivotal role.
We are currently seeking qualified, knowledgeable IT Professional/Programmers to join the newly established Outage Management System (OMS)* project team.
*OMS is an application to support the power grid and restore during service interruptions.
Reporting to IT Associate Project Manager, the appointee will undertake the following major duties:
Key Responsibilities:
• Good communication skills with a commitment to understand customer requirements as well as business objectives
• Collaborate with internal business and external vendors to produce software designs
• Ability to provide effective advice on the use of technology
• Design/write new programs and applications that will enhance our business
• Integrate individual software solutions to higher level systems
• Commitment to supporting new technology implementation
• Patience and ability to train users in both new and existing IT systems
• Constant willingness to provide assistance with technical issues, as needed
• Work and co-ordinate with internal business, IT teams and the external vendors for implementation and testing
• Test code periodically to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science or related field
• 3+ years of programming experience
• Extensive knowledge in various programming languages (Java, XML, Perl, Python, .NET, C#, etc.)
• Highly experienced with various operating systems (e.g. MS Windows) and databases (e.g. MS SQL Server)
• Experience in developing web applications and report generation using Internet Information Services (IIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Experience in writing IT technical documentation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong independent work ethic
• Willing to learn and develop new skills
• Willing to travel to vendor site, as needed
