We are looking for high calibre professional to join the Strategic Planning & Regulatory Affairs team of the Planning & Development Group. The appointee will be responsible for the following duties:
- To be part of a professional team involved in identifying and managing Scheme of Control (SOC) and/or strategic issues concerning regulatory, tariff, financial, environmental and technical performance matters.
- Assist in formulating the strategic plans, with in-depth scenario modelling and analysis, to support senior management to make effective decisions on future investments & financial strategies.
- Conduct research and analysis to offer strategic insight on business opportunities and risks as well as worldwide electricity market trends to support business planning.
- Conduct economic research, load forecast & statistical modelling, cost & tariff analysis, revenue planning and operation of database
- Plan and conduct forecasting & scenario analysis, devise business models & strategies to support effective work & quality output.
- Coordinate and compile business plans and reports, and conduct strategic studies.
- Independently produce management briefs, briefing on relevant topics, written reports and proposals on various study areas.
- Assist in internal and external liaison in meeting SOC regulatory/strategic planning requirements.
- Participate in ad hoc business strategy project teams and provide planning support as needed.
Requirements
- A recognized university degree in Economics, Business, Statistics or Engineering with 4-5 years or more of suitable exposure and experience in strategic planning and quantitative analysis.
- Appreciation of the Company's business, the SOC regulation system, the political & business environment in Hong Kong and ideally energy practice
- Effective application of high-level technical, financial and commercial skills needed to conduct & communicate successful research & analysis of strategic issues and the evaluation of new business initiatives. Strong written and computer programming skills and working knowledge on statistical / computer modelling would be highly advantageous.
- Strong commercial focus, demonstrating both initiative and critical thinking in identifying business opportunities and conducting relevant studies to test feasibility, market acceptance & investment appraisal.
- Keen motivation for continuous learning to keep up with key industry trends, market development and new business issues.
- An effective team player who can communicate to influence and perform under time and workload pressures.
