Description & Requirements

We are looking for a high calibre professional with strong commitment and environmental knowledge & experience to join our Generation Business Group (GBG) HSEQ Business Delivery Team of CLP Power Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Department. The appointee will be responsible for environmental management including environmental monitoring, inspection, analysis, data compilation and reporting. The role ensures the implementation of Environment Management System (ISO14001) in GBG, ensures compliance in environmental related regulations, and promotion and implementation environmental initiatives for continual improvement. Major duties include:

Capture and monitor relevant environmental data, carry out analysis and report to Group Environment, Government and other stakeholders.
Manage air emission monitoring system, support emission forecast and review emission performance for power plants.
Monitor and manage various environmental performance including quality of effluent discharge from water treatment facilities, and waste recycling and disposal in GBG.
Manage environmental licensing matters including licences renewal and variation for GBG.
Maintain ambient air quality monitoring stations.
Drive awareness, sustainability and go green culture and identify new environmental opportunities & risks associated with the work process in GBG.
Provide strategic support for managing environmental risks and opportunities in GBG to assure full compliance of associated environmental regulations.
Liaise with HKSAR Environmental Protection Department and stakeholders on environmental matters.
Support power stations and project teams on environmental control and improvement.
Review and update emergency and disaster management action plans for environmental incidents and emergencies, support EIA projects and corresponding EM&A program.
Facilitate line departments to implement ISO 14001 environmental management system.
Develop and apply new technology for enhancement in environmental matters.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science / Engineering, Applied Science, Engineering, Sustainability or related field. Postgraduate / Master Degree is preferable.
A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in environmental management, engineering and sustainability within an industrial organization, with exposure to power plant, oil and gas, chemical process and utilities
Possesses working knowledge of ISO14001 and familiar with environmental and sustainability management, monitoring and reporting methods related to industrial designs and technologies, preferably within power and utility sectors.
Sound knowledge and understanding of local environmental policies and regulatory environmental requirements, environmental management system, plus knowledge of environmental development trend & focus regulatory environmental requirements.
Member of internationally recognized professional body (e.g., HKIQEP, HKIE) and advanced qualifications or experience that would lead to professional recognition in environmental discipline is preferred.
Experience in setting up and managing environmental monitoring programmes and reporting frameworks, monitoring tools, equipment, and techniques, data gathering on various environmental aspects (e.g., air quality, water quality, waste management, noise, subsidence, etc.) and familiar with electricity generation process or chemical plant is preferred.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with strategic thinking and ability to operate effectively under pressure.
Self-initiated, analytical, well-organised, attention to details, tactful and ability to work as part of a team and individually.
Ability to take lead and coordinate among cross-functional teams in managing environmental issues.
Good computer literacy in MS office and analytical tools
Good communication and presentation skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese. Ability to speak Cantonese and Putonghua would be an advantage.
Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Senior Specialist position.
